WP2 comment draft

My comment @Joshua Carroll In my country China, citizens are not allow to own any kind of guns, only military and police department can own guns. As an international student in America, I know that gun control is a big big problem in United States. I still remember the day Feb 14th,2018. That day was Valentine’s Day and Chinese New Year. It supposed to be a happy day, but a devil took 17 lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school, which just a few miles away from my high school. I have studied in America for four years, and at least five mass shooting happened. Guns can protect people but also can hurt people. The government have to make the gun laws stricter as soon as possible. Respond to Jo Assink’s comment “New Zealand, the place where I live. Our peace was shattered last Friday by the acts of one white supremacist terrorist. What is worse, there was a third target, a Muslim children school that was not reached through the actions of our police force, normally not ar...

WP2 part1+2

Effective comments "I am an immigrant - 25 years ago. When I immigrated, America considered immigration an opportunity for he US. An opportunity that it managed and balanced with human rights, integration, and the rule of law. Now, I am told that I am not welcome, that I am a threat. The Trump administration, unlike most other administrations considers immigration a threat. And it does everything to further that threat. The uncontrolled chaos at the border is the result of the Trump policies. He dismantled the state department that was the eyes and ears on the ground to manage the relationship with other counties. Now such relationships are threats and retaliations. The end result is just a total disaster. We the immigrants are feeling unwelcome, fearful and the future immigrants are faced with a happenstance policy nobody can comprehend."(Jzu) " All that remains is the people. The most important task for the Democratic Party is to remove all obstacles to voting, ...

PB1B

Part 1 I would like to choose the public argument that gun control for WP1. As a Chinese student in America, I know how dangerous the gun is. The gunshot caused 17 people died at   Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School,  and it just a few miles away from my high school. I was so scared, and my parents were really worried about me. So I advocate that American government should prohibit guns or make the laws about gun control be more strict. Part 2 The "moves" that writers use in the "letter to editor" Making concession  Use identity to put more weight on the letter Irony Rhetorical question  Hyperbole  I would like to use concession, irony, rhetorical question for my WP1. Part 3 I think  "Gun Violence and Fear in America"  is the best. The writers use irony, rhetorical question, hyperbole to make their purpose that advocate gun control more convince.

PB1A Letters to Editor

Part.1 As we known, gun is a very serious problem in America and some other countries. It kills many people every year, so I have searched three letters to editor from The New York Times, and all of them are talking about guns. The first letter is " Tackling Gun Violence ", the second letter is " Gun Violence and Fear in America ", and the last one is " What Should Be Done About Guns ". Part.2 After I read these three examples, I found some genres from them: " To the editor" at the beginning Date Re"..."(the title of the article) or just "..."(the title of the article) Name of the author  Location  Individual resume  Polite way Real case about gun  I detected that these three examples have the following patterns across: " To the editor" at the beginning Date Name of the author  Polite way Location Re"..."(the title of the article) or just "..."(the title ...

Yo~it's me

Hey guys! It's me, Jiahao Li from China. My hometown is Guangzhou, which has a long history and beautiful view. You can call me Marco, but no Polo. I'm a freshman who is majoring mechanical engineering at Penn State Abington. If you see somebody sleep in physics class, he might be me.  I studied in Boca Raton, Florida when I was in high school. I miss the weather there. I like playing basketball, playing video games, photographing and traveling. If you have the same hobbies, we can play together. I'm easygoing and humorous. I have a cat named James Bond, although he is a fat cat. He is very kind and clingy. He always melts my heart and makes me happy. I think cat is the cutest animal in the world!  2019 is a new begin, I hope I can be better, make more new friends, learn more new things. Also, I hope the world be peaceful, more love and less hate.
